i think jacob means the Ajira people when he said 'they'. sure locke/MIB knew the Oceanic 6 came when he saw Sun(whom he had been staying with since the crash of ajira 316). But if the Ajira ppl came with the real locke's body, his disguise would fail. That's why he looked scared.

I'm pretty sure Smokey would have very little reason to fool a dog, or Claire.

Plus at the donkeywheel Christian warned Locke off Ben.

What about Walt?

To date, Smokey has "replicated," or whatever you want to call it: Locke, Yemi, Ben's daughter, and Christian, presumably (am I missing anyone?). All dead people. Except for Walt. Walt definitely got the Smokey treatment. For instance, when he appeared to Locke after Ben shot him outside the cabin. Walt has never been dead, though.

Is it just me then, that thinks Jacob & MIB are probably both the same species?

I would think that if MIB is made of 'smoke' then so is Jacob.

I think that we have been seeing two different smoke monsters all along, at various times.

Jacob burnt away leaving an amount of white ash over gray ash. So... to me it means not only they're using someone's ash to protect against MIB; but they could be using HIS ash

if locke is the smoke monster totally then why did he use the phrase, something like "you cant make me do anything i dont want to do".? i think that shows there is still some locke in smoke?
